S/N
S/N | Trivet
S/N’s brass trivet protects kitchen countertops and tables from heat damage with two simple lines intersecting at a right angle. The X they create resembles the symbols for both addition and multiplication, a nod to the elegance of geometry and mathematics.
Variation:
Each brass piece is handmade so there may be slight variation. Brass will patina over time, so its appearance and texture will change with use.
History:
A collaborative line designed by Taku Shinomoto, and handmade by the master craftspeople behind Nousaku Works, S/N is an expression of understated luxury through traditional craft. S/N products are created in Takaoka City in Toyama Prefecture, which has a history of metal casting that dates back to the 17th century. Utilizing casting techniques handed down from generation to generation, Nousaku brings a fresh take to an age-old craft. The company was established in 1916 as a producer of Buddhist altar equipment, tea utensils and flower vases. However, in recent years, the company has turned its focus to tableware, interior goods, and lighting fixtures that complement a contemporary lifestyle.
